The Series is Back, and It's Better Than Ever

After a successful launce in 2020, the Canadian Junior Virtual Cycling Series is back in 2021 with some great racing action for U17s and Juniors everywhere! So what's happening this year? Glad you asked! Here's a brief rundown of this year's series!

What's This All About?

Back by popular demand, the Canadian Junior Virtual Cycling Series provides top notch competitive racing to the Junior and U17 age groups. The series consists of three Sunday races (January 24th, January 31st, and February 7th). Athletes can chose to race any combination of events, or race all three and go for the title of Series Champion! Racing is on RGT Cycling's platform for ultra realistic indoor cycling simulation.

Who Can Race?

U17 and Junior age groups can race. This is anyone with a racing age between 15-18 (or riders born between 2003-2006). U17s and Juniors will race together and be scored separately with separate men's and women's categories.

What's New This Year?

Believe us, we've been working super hard to make the series new and exciting for this year's events. First up, we will be racing on RGT Real Roads this year. Why go this route over last year's Magic Roads offerings? Well, our friends at RGT have been putting in some stellar work on these routes, and we'd been itching to race on a few of these all of last year. Even better? We get to combine two of the latest trends in cycling - gravel and virtual racing - with the new Dirty Reiver route!

Next up, we've shortened the series to three action packed races offered earlier in the year (because let's be honest, -40 is a bit too chilly for some fatbiking). We race omnium style, and the Series Champion will have to be able to climb, sprint, and break away from the pack with the variety of courses on offer.

Last but not least? This is a big one. LIVE STREAM! You all asked for this last year, and for our first race of the series ARC Events has come on board to stream the Series LIVE on our YouTube channel! Race one will be covered by Andrew from ARC Events as well as Josh Peacock from Cycling Canada. Live stream links will be shared shortly.

Alright, I'm Sold. How do I Register?

Lucky for you, you're in just the right place! Take a stroll on over to our race registration page on jrraceseries.com and have a look for yourself. All riders will need a PSO issued race license, general membership, or provincial equivalent (such as an OCA Citizen's Permit) to race. Registration closes the Saturday before each race at 10:00pm Eastern, 7:00pm Pacific so get signed up early and be ready to go!

Looking forward to seeing you all on the line, Canadian Junior Virtual Cycling Series Organizing Committee
